Royal Blue
US 42478
One Owner Purchased in 1990 - Gregory Fisher, Traverse City, MI
Purchased in the spring of 1990 from
Irish Boat shop in Harbor Springs, Michigan, she was one of several boats our
family looked at purchasing including a Goman Express 35, J/35 and Express 34.
Irish made the best deal and Royal Blue became an instantly classic member of
the family. We've spent the past 27 years cruising and racing her across the
northern Great Lakes with seasonal highlights being the Mackinac Races, mostly
on the Lake Huron side and of course, watching children and grandchildren swim
from her stern ladder.
She's wheel steered, has an Emron'd blue hull with gold boots, her deck was
repainted with tan non-skid laid over the factory grey, mast step is rebuilt,
fresh bearings for the rudder, professionally prepared bottom, new motor mounts
this year with new output shaft and transmission seals and her winches are
over-sized. She's got the shelf and smoked glass saloon with custom upholstery.
Mast, boom, spinnaker pole, vang and backstay adjuster are all original pieces.
She's got a competitive suite of races sails and Harken roller furling loaded
with a working jib for cruising. She also sports a custom mahogany, teak and
rosewood wheel off a Frers 41 that's fun to drive with. Other recent upgrades
included new electronics with integrated auto pilot and nav, and 6 oz runner, A3
and Code 0 sails for improved reaching and light air performance while distance
racing. She shows better than new due to constant attention and a short
freshwater sailing season.
